Smokey Joe’s has been cleaning commercial vents for almost 20 years, mostly in laundromats throughout the Los Angeles area.
Due to their relatively large size and capacity, commercial dryer vents require cleaning less frequently than do residential dryer vents, usually every 3 to 5 years, depending on usage.
Commercial machines are expensive to purchase so it behooves the laundry owner to maintain the dryers and keep them running optimally to delay replacement expenses as long as possible and to maintain his profit margin.
If the dryer vents are clogged, even slightly, it puts more strain on the machines to exhaust the damp, lint filled air. This causes the machines to run longer to get the same drying effect as when the dryer ducts are clean. If the machines run longer, there is more wear on the machine, they use more gas/electricity which reduces increases operating expenses and reduces the profit margin on each dryer. This can cause customer dissatisfaction as well because it costs the customer more to dry each load.
By having the dryer vents cleaned on a regular basis the laundromat owner helps maintain his profit margin and reduces the probability of a dryer fire which could possibly destroy his business.
We have seen an increase in requests for commercial dryer vent cleaning as a result of laundromat insurers now asking laundry owners on their renewal questionnaires when was the last time the dryer vents were cleaned and who cleaned them. This would appear to be an effort to place responsibility for any fire related damages back on the owners of the laundromats if they fail to regularly and properly maintain the dryers.
Dryer vent cleaning and maintenance is an inexpensive, preventative measure that all laundromat owners should invest in their business.
